Our Possum rescue!
 Winston is a happy and friendly addition to the crew, albeit at a distance. Winston joined the crew in March due to the unfortunate death of his mother, he was saved by our Captain, Sarah, and when saved he was a tiny bundle of fur who happily snuggled down into Sarah’s polar fleece jacket until the wildlife carer arrived to take him in for raising.
Since then he has grown enormously and is still as cheeky and friendly. He is getting close to being released into the wild and all the more permanent crew of Windeward Bound are pleased to be able to be part of his rescue and rehabilitation.
Our heartfelt thanks go to Linda Carter who is currently hand rearing several possums (including Winston) in her own time and at her own expense with little or no help from government.
UPDATE:Winston is now happily living in the wild, thanks to the wonderful wildlife recovery program
