Option 1 - 30th August to 6th September– Embark in the am at Hobart and disembark on arrival at Williamstown on 6th September following the welcome reception: COST $ 2,000.00 incl GST (Early bird price)

Option 2 – 30th August to 9th September- Embark in the am at Hobart and disembark in the am on 9th September. Although we arrive on the 6th this B&B option allows you to continue your stay on board for the nights of the 6th, 7th, and 8th to soak up at first hand, Stage one of the Tall Ships Festival 2013. (This option is recommended for non "Melbournites" as accommodation anywhere near Williamstown is expected to be unobtainable) COST $ 2,500.00 incl GST (Early bird price)

Join the ship in the historic seaport of Hobart Town, once a major shipbuilding and trading port, where the wharves were lined with square rigged vessels of all shapes and sizes, from fast ocean going brigantines similar to "Windeward Bound", to chunky merchantmen and sleek clipper ships.

You will embark in the morning of the 30th August with your fellow voyagers, and the ship will sail as soon as everyone is on board and their gear is stowed. The ship will go to anchor in a quiet part of the Harbour where you will meet your fellow voyagers and our professional crew, you will be allocated your watches, and receive a thorough safety induction, get to know how the vessel works, participate in emergency drills, and, if you are with us as working sail trainees, go for your first climb aloft. This will be followed by lunch from our wonderful chef, and when all is ready we will proceed to sea.

Our Route to Melbourne will be dictated by wind direction and weather, however we expect to arrive off Port Phillip Heads during daylight on 5th September, allowing for a daylight entry through Melbourne's infamous Rip, an entry that has fascinated mariners since the first known European vessel sailed through in 1801. Here we will join the first of the arriving foreign Tall Ships, for a grand entry to Melbourne.

Our destination is Williamstown, another famous and historic seaport, once a rough and tough seaman's town, although now gentrified and a town of good restaurants and cafés, it still retains the interesting and colourful maritime atmosphere of the Victorian past.

Our Route to Hobart will be dictated by wind direction and weather, however we will be sailing in company with up to 10 other Tall Ships, a sight not seen in these waters for a generation. The voyage requires a crossing of Bass Strait, a rite of passage for all square rig sailors and these waters are well known to those of us onboard Windeward Bound as we have now done this crossing 32 times. At Hobart we are expecting to be joined by another 3 Tall Ships making this the biggest gathering of Masts and Square yards for many, many years.

Those taking the B&B option (option 2) will be able to participate in, and enjoy the hospitality and facilities laid on by the Hobart organisers. Hobart has always had a love affair with Tall Ships, and Windeward Bound will be berthed in the middle of the action.
