It's great to hear from you! Thanks for the update...
I have attached my story, "Voyage of Discovery" to this email. I am more than happy for you to publish it on your site, but I just have to receive the OK from the Alan Marshall Short Story Award organisers. The awards ceremony is coming up (3rd June). I'll check up on first publication rights, etc. & get back to you after the event to let you know (should be fine though!).
As you noted, I was indeed a reluctant voyager when I first stepped aboard, but the trip was a terrific character-building experience! My journey aboard the Windeward Bound has helped me to be selected as a 2006 Goldman Sachs Global Leader, one of six from around Australia. The awards ceremony was last week in Sydney, followed by an individual interview with each of the leaders. I discussed my sailing adventure aboard the Windeward Bound, and what a beneficial experience it was in terms of developing teamwork, confidence, leadership skills, camaraderie, etc. As a result of the interview, I have been selected as one of 3 Global Leaders to represent Australia at the Global Leadership Institute in New York in July! I've never been overseas, so I'm very excited, but also a bit nervous! I thought I'd share that with you, as an example of how a journey on the Windeward Bound can have a lasting impact, contributing to the future endeavours of trainees...!
