Welcome to Windeward Bound
The sounds of a sailing ship on a calm night, the thrill of handling heavy weather, dolphins diving before the bow, broadening your horizons, making friends, learning to respect, trust and care for the sea and your crew mates, gaining a real sense of achievement… imagine all this and you are just beginning to imagine the adventure of participating in a voyage on the Windeward Bound.
You will visit remote islands, sheltered pristine beaches, hobnob with whales, dolphins, seals and other wildlife, visit some of the world’s great natural wilderness areas, eat well, sleep well and have the time of your life.
The Windeward Bound is a brigantine, modern, but traditional below decks and entirely traditional on and above deck. This beautiful brigantine has become a National Icon and has been described as a National treasure.
She has circumnavigated Australia emulating the discoveries and honouring the 1802 voyage of Matthew Flinders, whose logs and journals provide the earliest observations of many parts of the Australian coast. The ship has also sailed to New Zealand ad back and is a true blue-water square rigger
The voyage and adventure is about you learning how a square rigger is sailed, re-visiting places discovered by Matthew Flinders and other early explorers and places not normally accessible by any other means .
Bring your company onboard and help support our fundraising & charity activities!
